This is Rachel’s fifth year coaching for WestE. Rachel has been playing volleyball since 3 when she started at the YMCA. In high school, Rachel played volleyball at Kiski Area for all four years as a middle and outside hitter. She also played club volleyball for West E. Rachel was recruited to play college volleyball for Penn State Behrend as a middle but shifted to the right side her freshman year. In her four years playing, she was the captain for two years and received awards such as Most Valuable Player, First team All-AMCC, Team Leadership Award, and Academic All-AMCC. She played as a right-side hitter and was ranked first in kills on her team her junior and senior year. During Rachel’s senior year, Behrend won the AMCC Championship for the first time in four years. Rachel received her bachelor’s degree in Communications at Penn State Behrend and has certificates in social media, advertising, public relations, human-centered design and lean six sigma.
In 2019, Rachel joined Coach Greg Lockley as the assistant volleyball coach at the Obama Academy. In 2021, she accepted the head volleyball coach job at Franklin Regional High School. During her first season, they became section champs for the second time in school history. 2023 will be her third season with this program and she is hopeful for another successful year!
Rachel currently works for Helion (Highmark Health) as a Manager of Internal Communications and has been in this role for a year and an employee of the enterprise for almost 5 years. She resides in Plum with her husband, Aaron, and dog (Mulligan). Rachel is very excited to be coaching again this year and is looking forward to another fun and competitive season!
